I once lost my bag with all my documents. I was lucky enough to have them recovered after few hours.

I spent Christmas in an airport. I got bumped off a few times. Worst Christmas ever.

I know it this happens a lot. Your luggage is in a different place. I had to wait for a week or so to get my own stuff.

Getting robbed in Bali was probably one of the worst. My vacation turned into a nightmare. Lost my money and passport.

On my first visit to New York, I soon found out that the hostel I had booked was not in fact ‘Upper West Side’ as advertised, but in the depths of Harlem. This wouldn’t have been too much of an issue except that I arrived at 2am and there was no one at the hostel to let me in.

Having a stranger stalk you can be traumatizing. This man kept following me when I was in Spain. I had to go around in circles to lose him. Pretty stressful.

Struggling with getting a ticket for a 12-hour train ride in Thailand. We absolutely had to be in Bangkok and left it until the last minute to buy a ticket for the sleeper train. The only tickets they had were for 3rd class ‘standing.’ We had to stand up for 12 hours on a cramped train all the way.

My sister’s car blew a head gasket near Death Valley in August, where the temps hovered around 123, and we had about $50 left because we were due back to her home in a day. There was no Western Union, signs were posted to not leave your car at night due to rattlesnakes and not to leave your car if you run out of gas.

Nothing that bad so far. Just me losing my baggage. It was quite a hassle but nothing too bad has happened to me yet.

I came down with swine flu when I was traveling in Turkey. One of the biggest advisories during the season of swine flu was to not get on a plane while ill, but I was stuck in Istanbul and needed to get home. I was petrified that the airport would have a fever detector and I would get detained and not be able to leave. Thankfully that didn’t happen.

Someone came into my room while I was sleeping and stole two cameras, $250, an MP3 player, and a watch. It was the creepiest thing to know someone came into my room while I was asleep.

My parents got into a huge fight and decided they wanted a divorce on the second day of a week long vacation at Disney world. It was the most awful week of my life.

An elderly woman died three seats over from me after 1 hour into a 7 hour flight.

My flight had to be delayed because of a snowstorm. I spent a day and a half at the airport. It was that bad. I couldn't go anywhere because of the storm.

Food poisoning in the Dominican Republic two days before my flight home. My first instance of it I puked so hard at the same time I blacked out on the bathroom floor.

Went to Jamaica with a 40+ person wedding party. When we got back to the States, people started texting in circles that everyone had hookworms in their feet and legs. Only about 5 people didn't get them and I was one of the lucky few. Talk about getting paranoid.

Was taking a bus from Newcastle to London. We hadn't even rolled out of the station before some dude goes for a dump and breaks the toilet causing the smell of poo to spread through bus for the next 6 or 7 hours.

A 30-hour hellbus trip between Vang Vieng, Laos and Hanoi. Absolutely horrible. Never again. 24 hours in and thank goodness there was nothing freely available with which to hang one's self.

Was in Germany a few years back when that Volcano in Iceland erupted and European countries closed their airports. Had to go through Poland and Baltic countries with Polish bus drivers who couldn't speak English while watching polish dubbed Forrest Gump on a loop for 24 hours.
