This is an extremely interesting topic. We have had so many brilliant minds in this world. It is so hard to pinpoint just one great invention. I have traveled extensively and see so many amazing things like the pyramids, Angkor Wat, Machu Picchu, and more. They places are brilliant and gorgeous and great minds built those. I think as far as inventions go I would have to say something that has helped mankind perhaps something in medicine. Then I think of travel, light, technology......it's so difficult to pick one. So I am interested to hear what everyone has to say on this topic.

I would say electricity. Everything follows if you can power up a city. Transportation, communication and businesses are part of progress. Electricity has made a huge impact on our lives.

That is simple. Germicides. Like the entire sanitation thing. Joseph Lister, 1895. Before cleaning agents, there was no sanitation, particularly in prescription.

Automobiles. Without cars, we wouldn't have a convenient life now. They are amazing inventions that led to other forms of transportation.

The electric heater (1889) It was"the main means for monetarily creating Carborundum (the hardest of every made substance)." The electric heater likewise changed over aluminum"from an only valuable to extremely helpful metal" (by decreasing it's cost 98 percent), and was"fundamentally changing the steel business."

Computers. If we didn't have computers live wouldn't be as convenient as it is now. We'd have a hard time with data processing and transmission.

Airplanes. Without them, we'd take a long time traveling. It's convenient and comfortable. It also doesn't cost much to be in a different place in such a short time.
