To track down the members of what the Times op-ed termed the “steady state", senior aides who keep in check a president they view as erratic but whom they are enabling in order to achieve their own policy objectives.Senator Rand Paul recently raised the prospect of subjecting everyone in the White House who holds a security clearance to a polygraph examination in order to root out leakers even those who share unclassified information. The polygraph is merely a device that evaluates various physiological reactions your body makes when answering questions. It measures your heart rate, respiration and perspiration, among other things. Examiners are trained how to “read between the lines” in terms of what those measurements may suggest about the truthfulness of your answers.

Do you think this is too much or is it just right that Trump lets his staff take a polygraph test?

If Trump thinks that there is a traitor among his staff, he has every right to do what he can to find the traitor, whether he is successful or not.

It's a waste of people's money if he can't find the traitor.

Leave it to Trump to think of so many more ways to look foolish in front of the entire nation. You should have already vetted your staff prior to hiring or appointment and from there, you should already trust that they have your back 100%. If not, there's something wrong with you and not them. Paranoid much?!

What do you expect from a lunatic president?! If anyone talks smack about him, there will be hell to pay. It just shows what a brat he is.

A substantial element to the process of a polygraph is psychological. It isn't so much"a magic machine will tell us if you're lying;" It's about the whole process and the environment and being interrogated by a trained interrogator.

He should polygraph himself before seeing Mueller.

The idea of polygraphing will not only be ineffective but will likely backfire which will only create more suspicions and further hurt morale.

If the person or persons who authored this opinion piece wanted to increase tension and distrust in the Trump administration, initiating widespread polygraphing is going to further that goal. It will sow more chaos and more dissension within the ranks.

What is it with polygraphs anyway...? It's clear pseudoscience. Is there any country in the world using them besides the US?

I think Trump plans to use it for intimidation more than anything else.
