Infidelity makes relationships uncomfortable but it may also strengthen relationships by making them more honest and more resilient. Infidelity is still taboo but opening up about these experiences opens up a safe place for conversations.

How would you handle infidelity? Do you think it strengthens relationships?

Infidelity seems to be a common thing now. I know lots of couples who go through these problems. Staying together or breaking up is a hard decision especially if you have kids to think about.

When we were in the boyfriend-girlfriend stage, my now husband, had another relationship while we were still together. They even had a baby. We broke up because I can't stand the thought of him being with another woman. I've had a few relationships after that. But nothing compared to what I had with him. He later approach me wanting to reconcile, saying he felt the same. We talked and talked and talked, it took awhile but now we are stronger than ever. We're married for 5 years and have a little girl too. So yes, it is possible to have a stronger relationship after infidelity.

Wow, that is amazing. I can't be like you though. I have a really hard time trusting someone. Actually, I'd tell my partner that cheating is one thing that I can't forgive. Ugly images just won't stay out of my mind, I can't move on.

I know how you feel. I also value trust and loyalty and if someone cheats on me, I won't be able to forgive them. Relationships are about respect and if you can't give me that, it's time to get out of the relationship.

Infidelity is a sensitive topic and people feel ashamed admitting to it. I know of some couples who went through so much because of infidelity issues.

I think infidelity is the death of any relationship. A relationship cannot survive without trust.

I think a martyr to try to save a relationship once there's a 3rd party plus there's no guarantee that it wouldn't be a next time.

I find it hard to trust people especially after being cheated on several times. I don't think I can forgive and forget. It would be hard to get past all my trust issues.

Cheating on a spouse is the ultimate form of betrayal. It destroys trust, which is the very core of any loving relationship.

I agree. Once a cheater, always a cheater. You just need to decide if you can live with yourself WHEN it happens again.

There are NO excuses for infidelity. And there's no excuse for accepting it from your partner. It's an absolute deal-breaker — the first time, the second time, or anytime.
