This is just getting crazy! Did anybody complain about BET or that there were not enough white people on The Cosby Show?

The blind racist ignorance is on the level of stupidity that shouldn't be possible but the regressive left always fall's back on their racism

tfw the comments are flooded with the same people making the same shyte statements about how much polygon sucks, yet it's too troublesome to just unfollow and be done with it.

The thought never crossed my mind until I read this useless article. I also didn't pay attention or give thought to Rogue One with its fairly sizable minority representation.

Let them make an all-black Star Wars movie and see how many of the people claiming this article is racist come back to defend THAT film...

A white women complaining about white people in movies when literally no one cares otherwise the market would be addressed.

This reads like a headline from an Onion artical only it's not ment to be satire. Polygon might as well be The Daily Beast.

Why does the media always want to cause trouble? This is not a problem. It's better to have a cast of mainly white people, because they're all good at what they do and have their purpose, than to throw in an asian dude just because he's an asian dude. Star Wars isn't meant to be political (other than the fictional politics in the prequels). It's a movie about people fighting in space! Come on! Accusing a movie for being racist, sexist, homophobic etc because it didn't include a member of that and that group is just insane. Not every story has, or needs a black guy, or a muslim, or a lesbian or whatever. If it fits to have one of those, then great, maybe more people have characters to relate to, but you cant bitch and complain when they don't.

Give it a fucking rest with the racist card everytime. Best cast is best cast and I for one don't want someone in the vast JUST because they are.black or pink or yellow or green!!

Okay, I mean I like diversity as much as the next guy. I appreciate representation and all that... But let's not risk getting into tokenization here.

It's apparently White Fragility Day up in these comments."Help, help, I'm being oppressed by someone pointing out that a movie cast is heavily white!"

So long as they do a good job, who cares? And I say this as a nonwhite person but an avid fan of Star Wars. Come to think of it, having one black person makes sense, given how there was only one in the original trilogy, so at least they're consistent. I would've also liked to see an Asian actor though, given the great performances by Donnie Yen and Riz Ahmed in Rogue One. I still wish Toshiro Mifune took up the offer to be Obi-Wan in the original. It would've been great to see this legend in such an iconic series like Star Wars.

Let's replace white with black."The Han Solo prequel cast looks so damn black" Wow, suddenly you're racist. Unliking this page. Never knew Polygon was such trash

Really! We're worried about someone's color are lack there of and not how well they act , wow how people have back slid to what we were in the late 1800s and early 1900s

There are too many black people in the NBA. From now on each team should have at least 3 white people so it's fair and not racist for everyone.

Who cares. Im just watching the movie to enjoy it in all its aspects! The only people that notice are the critics and bigots! And they dont even buy the movies. The people that buy the movies should be the ones being listened to.

Who cares if you paint a picture and use one color is it a surprise? No its the artist direction or his creative view. What the fuck is wrong with people today

Skimmed the article. Writer jumps to conclusions based on early cast shot, then points out that people also jumped to conclusions after an early cast shot was shown from TFA, and were later silenced once the plot was revealed. Writer blames Disney for releasing these early pics instead of blaming the reactionary idiots who get all offended without even knowing if their assumptions are even right. Probably shouldn't have bothered to read this story, but I like to know what I'm commenting about.

Equal opportunity doesn't mean automatically the cast becomes diverse. Equal opportunity means you get a chance to audition. At that point, it's skill that decides.

Oh cool more racial division fuel.. Sure SW has always been comprised of a majorly"white" cast and I can of course see why people would be upset with this, However must we really expect characters to be written in simply to appear to have more diversity. In all fairness"go there" with a movie like SW we need to go even deeper, Why do all the good guys have American accents, while most bad guys have English accents? Why are there not more Wookiee? Because yes if you address this in a movie even real world aspect you must consider its inner workings. I agree completely that Hollywood has not always had much equality but in the last 10 years we have seen a huge increase, the steps forward to racial equality are already in place, let's not victimize SW to make a point. I would love to see more"Human" races in SW I mean he'll arguably the most beloved SW character Darth Vader, is himself voiced by the amazing James earl jones an African American man, without him Vader could never be the same. More diversity is always a plus, it fleshes out the story what real fan wouldn't approve? Instead of imposing this on a saga that has been around for 40 years let's push a NEW cult classic to be made that does touch on this subject because when it comes to Movies these days I think we are lacking much more new ideas rather then just simply ethnics.
