Lessen your appliances and furniture. That makes the small space to look bigger.

Have your place designed by a good interior designer. Built-in cabinets are also a good way to make your space a little bigger.

I don't get big bulky furniture. I measure my available space all the time so I don't end up crowding the space. I also use multipurpose furniture so I don't end up with so much stuff.

I use wallpaper on the ceilings so people have a tendency to look up. I've learned that from an interior designer before: draw the eyes upward to make small spaces look big.

You can always choose light colors to make the space look big and bright. I've always stuck with this rule and my rooms look airy. People don't really notice that my home is actually very small.

Allowing natural light to penetrate the room opens up the room and makes it look bigger. If you do not have a lot of natural light, you can add some creative effects using lighting fixtures. You will be amazed at how this small addition can make a big difference.

It is a generally known fact that light colors make a room look bigger and brighter. Light and bright walls are more reflective, making a space feel open and airy, which helps maximize the effect created by natural light.

Select soft tones of off-white, blue and green, and always remember that brighter rooms look bigger and more inviting. Try painting your wall trim and moldings in a lighter color than your walls. By doing so, the walls will appear farther back, making your living room seem bigger.

If you have access to natural light, bringing it into your home through large windows will instantly connect the room with the outdoors, no longer limiting your space.
