Resident Evil’s success is based on its ability to put butts in seats, create enough action to make it a fun ride, and put together a story that’s plausible enough (as far as video game movies go) to make sense so you can enjoy the ass-kicking, blood, guts, gadgets, and one-liners.

We’ve talked a lot about video game movies and how Hollywood has mostly failed for the last twenty-three years to make a viable top-tier franchise from a video game property. But there is one quasi-exception. Sony’s Resident Evil franchise isn’t just the exception to the rule in terms of video game movies, it is something of an anomaly in any number of ways.

Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where the nightmare began.

After more than a decade in existence, the Resident Evil franchise is coming to an end. Since back in 2002, we’ve seen the video game series launch five films into theaters, each one finding fans around the world, and compelling them to come back for the next installment. Now Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is ready to get rolling, and in anticipation, the project has announced its full cast

I wasn’t a huge fan of Resident Evil: Retribution, and in general I haven’t been as big a fan of this long-running series as some of my other colleagues with discerning tastes in weirdo action movies. I’ve never quite been on the Paul W.S. Anderson bandwagon, but this is a really fun trailer (even if the pleasure of the twist that it’s a Resident Evil movie is kinda ruined by the damn mini-trailer that starts the clip).

Is it me or is Hollywood just running out of good ideas? I have yet to see 1 video game turn into a good movie. As a former player of resident evil I don't think the movie franchise is even remotely good. Maybe others may not agree with me. I enjoy gaming and I enjoy movies. Is it bad that I don't think the two should combine??

Last week saw several different teasers and trailers for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, the supposedly last entry in the franchise that began in 2002. Most of these trailers featured the music of Guns N’ Roses in a rather boisterous manner, which might have turned off a few people who watched it. If that’s the case, this new international trailer will give you some rather epic and explosive footage. Simply head on down to give it a watch.
