My kids get their religion from home and we teach them about Satan also. I spend more time with my kids educating them than do the educational system. If they hear something that does not line up they will come home and we will discuss it. Opening their mind to both sides is not a bad thing I feel.

I thought schools did not teach any religion why are they talking about the devil. This leaves to much for interpretation from the teacher and whatever that person's religion is at the time. I would rather my kids learn about the device from me not some 20 year old atheist who knows nothing about my religion.

Yeah, this does sound very odd. It surprises me that public schools would teach about the devil, unless they are teaching about him in the context of historical religion. I wouldn't have an issue with schools teaching the Bible, but just satan? Why not teach about God then?
Part of me thinks this is partly the devil's doing maybe... Much of his power is in his lies and in people fearing him more than God. It may be that the public schools are playing into his hand, if it's true that the devil is taught there. The more people think of him as a threat (without the knowledge of God) the more people will fear him above God.

They’re here plotting to bring their wisdom to the nation’s public elementary school children. They point out that Christian evangelical groups already have infiltrated the lives of America’s children through after-school religious programming in public schools, and they appear determined to give young students a choice: Jesus or Satan.

“I am quite certain that all of the children in these Florida schools are already aware of the Christian religion and its Bible, and this might be the first exposure these children have to the actual practice of Satanism. We think many students will be very curious to see what we offer,” Greaves added. The Satanic Temple came into the media spotlight after announcing it is going to erect a seven-foot Baphomet statue next to a Ten Commandments monument at the Oklahoma State Capitol. It also unveiled plans to build a chapel in Detroit.

I thought there was a separation between church and state? Why are public school children learning about any religion unless referenced in historical context?

It is sounding like the schools are allowing Satanism to be taught because it's so many kids aren't exposed to it? That's pretty low to promote satanism though, am I right?!
Maybe I've got it all wrong though. Maybe they teach Satan as evil. In which case, like you said, we still wouldn't want a secular edu system to do the explaining!

Is this the first time you've heard of this, Marley?

But the group’s plan for public schoolchildren isn’t actually about promoting worship of the devil. The Satanic Temple doesn’t espouse a belief in the existence of a supernatural being that other religions identify solemnly as Satan, or Lucifer, or Beelzebub. The Temple rejects all forms of supernaturalism and is committed to the view that scientific rationality provides the best measure of reality.

This is the land of the free and everyone has the right to express their views. I will say that my kids will not be going to one of these schools and if they all welcome it my kids will be home schooled the next day.
