I'm not sure if this will really catch on. New Yorkers are very particular about their pizza.

Eating in Italy is the best, the BEST. Except for that weird maggot cheese.

It looks tasty, I'm just shocked it's not from some restaurant in the Midwest! Pizza measured in feet seems very American…

First part is stracchino bianca, second is with sausage and provolone, third's with anchovies and fourth with spicy salame

The creation of Pala Pizza ended the argument between feisty Brooklynite, Edena, and the homegrown Italian, Gigio. She had dug her heels in making proud claims that New York style pizza was the best, and he passionately believed that only Italy produced “real” pizza. They combined both of their palates and ended up with an authentic Italian pizza in New York that is both healthy and delicious.

In Italy, this lengthy masterpiece is typically shared among a group of friends by the slice. All day at Eataly, our Roman colleagues have been fondly reminiscing about warm summer evenings spent in piazzas, whiling away the hours with pizza alla pala, wine, and beer.

In its first move since closing Baffo in May, the Italian market has shuffled around its second-floor dining station I Salumi I Formaggi to make room for its newest offering, Pizza alla Pala. Eataly has always served pizza, of course, offering the delicate Neapolitan thin crust at food station Rossopomodoro (which remains open). But Pizza alla Pala offers a shareable alternative: Roman-style pizza.

I hate pizza but this looks like something I could eat every single day.

While it’s a universally accepted fact that everyone loves pizza, not everyone can agree on what kind they prefer. And until now, Eataly Chicago has only offered one option: Neopolitan style. But no more! Beginning Wednesday, Eataly is launching their new “pizza alla pala,” a Roman-style pizza that’s served on a wooden pala (paddle).

I will definitely be making this at home looks expensive if you go out to a top tier spot.

Dare I say, this may be the BEST gluten-free pizza I have had anywhere. Crust made in house, carefully prepared, served on a dedicated pizza peel, super knowledgeable staff. Simply a perfect experience. I even carried my leftover cold pizza through the airport and ate it hours later on the plane.
