Wow, this is really great. I know that physical activity is really good but not as good as improving academic performance. I'm glad that I don't allow any screen time with my toddler. Will definitely encourage physical activity more now that I know this.
My favorite activity as a child is hopscotch. Back where I live, we don't have much money to buy a tv so we didn't watch any cartoon. I have lots of neighborhood friends and we played outside a lot. It's good to know that having no TV then somehow had some benefits as well.
Kids should be encouraged to be active but unfortunately, that's not the case anymore. Most kids now are on their gadgets or tv. I remember when I was a kid, I was always outdoors playing sports or biking with my friends.

I guess physical activity stimulates their brains better. They get to feel the adrenaline rush when they stay active. They also get social interaction from their peers.
I don't think it affects the size literally. I believe that physical activity keeps the brains alert hence you are able to absorb more information.

When you do physical activities, your body produces more oxygen. It helps in brain development.

Haha! If this is true then I should be part of Mensa by now. I run everyday and go the gym after work. I don't feel any smarter.
I think this is just an excuse to get people outside. Back in my days, the kids who fail all the time are always the ones who play outside so this can't be all true.
I love walking my dogs ever since I was a kid. I love taking him for a long walk and many times it turns into a nice running activity.
Dancing has always been my exercise. It's fast and convenient too. I can do it anywhere,anytime. Helps me stay in shape.
We shouldn't need a reason to go outside and exercise.
