Pope Francis canonized Mother Teresa Sunday. The nun was praised for her work helping the poor in India. But critics say she only provided minimal assistance.

I notice that Teresa is spelled wrong, my apologies. Considered one of the most influential women in the history of the Roman Catholic Church, St. Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and was regarded by many Catholics as a “living saint” for her work in the slums of Kolkata, formerly known as Calcutta.

Anyone that would dig to try and find an issue with Mother Teresa sounds like a really low person. Who cares the level of help she was able to provide, she spent her life and every single dollar she ever had on helping people. Maybe if the people criticizing would have donated funds there would have been a bigger push and a higher level of support given to the less fortunate.

Rest in peace Mother Teresa. We all can learn plenty from this lady.

It was Francis, the people's pope, who signed off on her canonization last year after the Vatican said it verified the second of her two miracles required for sainthood. In one case, she's said to have cured a woman with cancer. The other, a man with a brain infection. And others profess more miracles still.

Catholics -- including hundreds of blue- and white-robed nuns from the Missionaries of Charity sisterhood founded by Mother Teresa -- had gathered from around the world to attend the canonization of the church's newest saint, just 19 years after her death.

Does it normally take this long before they make someone a Saint? I would have thought this would have been done right away.

God bless her and may she rest in peace. A thousand years from now when most of us have been long forgotten her name will ring on in history.
