The MT Vier Harmoni was not hijacked, as authorities initially believed, said Ahmad Puzi Ab Kahar, director-general of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency. The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency spoke with the captain of the tanker and confirmed that the suspected hijacking was merely a misunderstanding between the ship’s crew and the operator. Malaysia also said it was an “internal management problem,” according to the BBC.
