Im sure, Tartget didnt mean to offend any woman for this"classification" of course target also just wants to be clear that this section is for this people, but they probably also have a section that is fit for you... whats discriminating is, when they dont have any other size....

Why is this a problem or concern or even a point of conversation when it comes to big women...what is it about size that obviously intimidates people. The size of our clothes can change big to small and vice versa...so what is the problem. It can't be about sex...don't get it twisted; we have our own set of tricks.

I think women should feel the other way around...to be challenged to make themselves fit and healthy. Be conscious of your look and health as well.

I don't see how that ad can be sending a bad message? Height is something we can't control so I do not see how this would make somebody feel upset. correct me if I am wrong ladies

I am petite and I don't take offense when referred to as such.

I agree! I am petite too and I actually love it that they have a specialty line for us. I don't take offense. I am actually glad they have finally diversified their retail line.

I agree! There's nothing wrong with the word"petite". When I hear petite. I automatically think"cute"... ????

So ridiculous! Are we really getting that sensitive, as your article states, the range is for women below 5'3, I think if you come into that it does matter that your pants don't drag along the floor and tops aren't too long on your body!

It's a"petite" range!!! Gee love get over yourself. It's fir small framed/ small stature women and size dies matter, just as it does for taller women. Cut and proportion are all they are talking about

It's a range for petite or shorties like me!! It's made for those of us that are vertically challenged so yes the size does matter!!! It's not about being offensive or only catering for a tiny size 6... it's to help with getting a better cut and not having to spend a fortune on getting alterations done...

Totally agree! Somebody should seriously talk about this mom. She obviously has some strong body dysmorphic issues... As what has already been said, this will save you money from doing alterations on your clothes since it will fit you properly.

Bloody hell sounds like she's got her knickers in a twist over nothing. Target gave a pretty good response too. I'm 5ft 6 and I've never bothered looking in the petites section because I know it won't fit me properly.

Bahahahah! Size does matter. When you are as small as me it's hard to find pants that don't drag on the ground or tops that look like a sack! Not my fault I'm only 5 foot tall! I had to buy a kids maxi dress from best n less as I literally can't get a dress to fit that I don't trip over!

Petite. SHORT. seriously, if you are feeling upset by this you need something better to do. So they get pants that actually fit instead of dragging on the ground and shorter torso tops, how dare they actually try and accommodate this body type!!

Ummmm.... it's petite... to me, that term denotes someone who's shorter. As a woman standing 173cm and (at one stage) weighing 59kg (hello glandular fever), I would never consider stepping foot in the petite section. The length is way too short and is designed for ladies with shorter stature than me. Simple. Target has a great range from petite, to Belle (which fits my height fantastically, just not my waist), to their regular range (again, fits me to a tee), and the maternity (who doesn't love elastic waisted jeans!).

Size matters. As a fashion consultant, it does. Women want clothing that fits their proportions no matter what size they are. That's just a fact. Women are beautiful creatures who come in all sizes and that's what makes us special. Nothing to see here people.... lol

OMG.. This is taking body image too far. It's hypersensitivity like this that makes loving your body something to be ashamed about. It's the same reason why thin women cant deserve happiness because they happen to be born slim (and short like me!) and what's worse, they can't even talk about it because if they do, they make the plus size sisters feel bad about themselves. Boo hoo. Seriously, get over it. Size does count, height counts, the correct cup size for your bra counts etc etc etc and we are just as entitled to wear clothes that fit us well.

Really that's silly, when stating it's a petite clothing label stating size does count it correct! Its proportionate to your height....it's a range for shorter women! It says in the article it goes up to a size 16.....geez.....people are so sensitive now. If it offended possibly you aren't happy with how you look and feel you need to change it instead of embracing it
