I prefer to go Natural but I know some people don't have a choice. For example a friend of mine has a rare blood disorder and has to take blood thinner for the rest of her life. Not sure if there is a natural remedy for that.

Any respectable doctor will tell you to avoid taking antibiotics unless absolutely necessary. You should always try natural cures. If you are being told anything otherwise I would strongly suggest changing doctors.

Then, alas, there are cases where quite simply antibiotics are necessary. I wish it wasn’t so, but it is. Some people just can’t get sufficient recovery without these medications, and antibiotics offer relief that other more natural therapies can’t give. I honestly think that the majority of Lyme patients require antibiotic treatment somewhere along the way in their treatment path. Of course, I always vote for naturopathic support in conjunction with the meds, and nutrition is equally if not even more important here. But the bottom line is that in many cases, the medications are a necessary part of treatment.

Antibiotics have a number of drawbacks. They kill bacteria indiscriminately throughout the body. That's their job. So, if you have a strep throat, for example, the antibiotic you take kills the good bacteria, lactobacillus, in the gut and the vagina, which you need to crowd out Candida (yeast) if it arises.

Eliminate caffeine, alcohol, sugar, refined foods, meat, and dairy while you have an acute infection.

Aloe gel that is extracted from the aloe plant can be used for treating internal infections, bacterial skin infections, vaginal and urinary tract infections etc. Aloe gel can be applied directly on the affected area and a quarter cup of the juice consumed as well for treating bacterial skin infections.

Probiotics work on the body by increasing the amount of good bacteria and reducing the functioning of the bad bacteria, thereby giving the body strength and immunity to fight off the bacterial infection. The best way to attain this is to take two cups of fresh yoghurt with live culture so that the bad bacteria can be naturally discouraged. - See more at: http://www.findhomeremedy.com/home-remedies-for-bacterial-infections/#sthash.r1sXarDX.dpuf

By 1940, antibiotics had come into widespread use causing both doctors and people to gradually forget about natural antibiotics for resolving infections and the age old remedies like cod liver oil. This change in the medical paradigm has led in recent decades to abuse of drug based antibiotics and the worrisome rise of antibiotic resistant superbugs such as the “TDR”(totally drug resistant) strain of tuberculosis and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections particularly in babies and children.

I think over a lifetime you are going to need both but natural should be the choice if you can. Sometimes you need a higher dose and need it quickly and you will need antibiotics. You can eat healthy and keep your antibodies at a high level so that you never get sick also.

All of my West Indian friends keep telling me about cod liver oil.
