Having a dog can bring a lot of love into your life. It could also make it last a little longer.
A group of academics from Uppsala University in Sweden analyzed the health records of 3.4 million people in that northern European country, where databases contain detailed information on everyone’s hospitalizations, medical history and even whether they own a dog. Such detailed records made it relatively easy to suss out the impact of having a canine companion.

To put it simply, dogs are awesome. Whether they’re begging for your food, barking at their leash to convince you to take them on a walk, or simply greeting you when you get home, dogs do all of the little things that put smiles on faces around the world. I'd say they really may just be the perfect substitute for a romantic partner.

It’s true, but I almost died of a broken heart when I lost my first two dogs. The loss was excruciating. If only they would live longer!
