The letters outside the Rijksmuseum in Museum Square have been removed.

The sign was apparently deconstructed because the square was becoming overcrowded, and due to fear that it's become a symbol of"mindless mass tourism" and is"too individualistic."
This discussion is set to be extendable. After it expires, the content will remain, but all guests will be removed. After that if any guests decide to join it, more days will be added to the discussion

Wow... “individualism” is now bad, but “diversity” and “tolerance” are good... never been so glad I live in the U.S.(and voted for Trump).

Let's admit the truth - It's really because no one would go inside the museum.

I’m glad I took the pictures with it last spring. After we visited the museum. There is always LOVE signs in Philly.

I'm glad they did! Too superficial when there’s more to see and experience than selfies.

Gee I’m glad I was there last year and got my picture in front of it. I didn’t go to the Riksmuseum but we did visit the Van Gogh museum in the same complex. Sad that Amsterdam decided to remove this iconic sign

How is it bad to be individualistic?! We all have to look the same, feel the same, speak the same?!

TOO INDIVIDUALISTIC?! That’s why I love American and Mexican culture. Promote individualism. As long as everyone takes care of themselves and their families, then everyone will be taken care of!

They removed it just right after I arrived here. Well, my selfie is their loss, not mine.

I'd be interested to know how many people whining here about the sign being taken down actually went into the Rijksmuseum to look at the exhibitions. Stop complaining, people, you can take selfies inside the Rijksmuseum if you want. Please turn off the flashes near the paintings so people who are actually interested can continue to enjoy them long after your selfies are deleted.

"What you think? Seems to me the Dutch resent tourists with the whole trying to get rid of Air B&B and now this.
I mean i do get their impulse. I do think it is a kinda mindless picture in front of some letters instead of seeing the real culture right behind it. But at the same time the slogan represents here in Amsterdam you are free to be yourself."
