Scientists says that humans have wiped up 60% of the animal population in 50 years, a fifth of the Amazon have disappeared and we have lost half of the Earth's shallow water corals. This is due to climate change, deforestation and pollution.

Lots of finger pointing but I think it just gets back to overpopulation.

Pollution, climate change and habitat loss are a result of our consumer based economy.

Need to manage and reduce the number of humans which are in plague proportions for a planet this size.

It's ok nature has its own safety valve when co2 emissions are reduced the stalled ice age will commence and nature will reset itself! There are scientists who believe the high levels of co2 delayed the ice age by over 1000 years but fortunately the great push for carbon emission reduction will bring on the ice age.

How can we protect wildlife from extinction? Eat less meat. In Australia we have one of the highest rates of biodiversity loss and that is primarily because of deforestation. 90% of deforestation is to clear land for grazing. In addition, beef production is one of the largest source of carbon emissions. A massive reduction in meat consumption is required to stop deforestation, protect wildlife and limit global warming.

It's awful but there are some good things happening also. Bears wolves are being reintroduced in the Alpes and Pyrenees. Mass migration, mining, urban development and economical greed is also responsible for creating the problem where people desert country towns and regions to head to cities.
