Seems like a bit of a mess down there at the moment. Twin tornadoes and some very heavy weather has taken out power to the entire state. Also it's reported supermarkets are unable to supply some simple staple foods.

Planning scenarios for other states will need to be reviewed after this disaster. Who would've thought 22 towers would be pushed/pulled over in strong wind. That'll take a long time to repair. Obviously the cables were strong! It seems SA is too reliant on receiving power from other states! Need to improve supply infrastructure system.

I wonder if they were constructed of Chinese steel that's what's being asked on the radio. Our wind power on days like yesterday and today is switched off when it gets too windy. We heard on the radio that they fired up Torrens Island and Pelican Point yesterday that's why we got power a lot sooner than expected, is that true ?

Who designed these towers, who accepted the designs, who built the towers?

The outage began at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday after 22 power-transmission lines and 22 towers across the state were knocked out by storms. This caused the entire system to shut down in order to protect itself, shutting down traffic lights, public transit, and other services in the state that’s larger in area than Texas in area.

I am from the country side where we are fine without electricity. We go so many days without power in the summer time that it does not bother us one bit.
