I notice that so many politicians have a background in law? Perhaps this is why so many, become corrupt and power hungry..... Shouldnt we be pushing more NGO leaders into politics ? People with morals and backbone, that naturally make decisions for the greater good of all

Most of them have law, economics and political science degrees. They should know the Constitution and what laws are already passed so they know what to come up with for the future. They need to be good speakers and engage the people in what they are saying.

Be a great speaker and everyone will believe you even if you don't know what you're saying. I don't think you need to have a law degree. If they did then they'd make the best liars.

Know the Constitution and study the law. Making a good politician is about looking and talking the part. They always look squeaky clean and their dirty laundry is always hidden.

You just need to know the right people.

It doesn't seem like you need much of an education. The few that do actually do it properly, and get their degree, ( many US politicians have their doctorates in Politics and Law), don't usually get very far.

Be a celebrity. If you're already popular, run for office. That will be your bargaining chip. Look like you know what you're saying even if you have no clue at all.

I don't think there are actual rules for this. Trump won as president so that's saying a lot already. Anybody can run and it's their right.

Agree, Trump wasn't a traditional politician and he managed to snag the presidency. He did have a way with public speaking. He's probably so used to that from all the business meetings and presentations he did before.

You just need to be famous, or popular enough among the masses. If this election has shown us anything, it is how under qualified you can be, and still become the leader of a country.

Look sharp and talk smart. All that degrees can go out the window. If people like you, you can be a politician even if you're unqualified.

True. Look at the president now. He beat out a seasoned politician.

Be famous and help out charities. Volunteer and make sure there's a lot of media for photo ops. Politicians are all about image. Fake.

I think you should have a background on law and governance. It would be so easy to run based on popularity but you'd look stupid in front of the whole country. I'd want to be knowledgeable about it before I run.

Get a good financier. Make yourself popular and give to charity or start your own foundation. Make sure people know your good deeds and voila, you can run. It would help if you came from a good family with money and you went to ivy league schools.

True. Winning is just the tip of the iceberg. Making laws that are beneficial to the citizens is a different story. You need to know what other laws you can make for neglected sectors.

Start at the bottom and slowly go up. Build on the experience and study further. You should know what the government needs. You can't rely on your advisors to do things for you all the time.

Why do that when you can go the short cut?Be famous and run for office. No education, no experience and you can still win. A clown even won the US presidency.

He would say he went to the best business school so he has good education. His business experience speaks about his leadership skills. He'll come up with something to make himself sound great.

Get affiliated with a political party. Set up charities and do volunteer work. People will know what you do through media and you have one foot in the door already. What's important is people get to know you.
