There are sharks everywhere. It's no shock they're in UK waters.

As the sharks prefer warm waters, it is highly unlikely that you’d find them in British waters. The great white can be found in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Ocean, as well as the Mediterranean Sea.

Some fisherman have claimed to have spotted great white sharks in the area but none of these sightings have been officially confirmed.

This is concerning because the great white shark is an aggressive specie. Everyone in beaches better be careful of shark attacks.

Great whites didn't frequent Britain's coast before. It's mostly basking sharks and they are harmless. It might be a false alarm though.

The porbeagle is the most commonly encountered and its distinctive dorsal fin and sleek body mean it's often mistaken for a great white. They could have mistaken it for a great white.

There have been sightings but no evidence has been found. People could panic because of these reports. They should clear this up.

I'd be skeptical about this. I need proof that they are in the UK seas. It's hard to trust hearsay.

Surfers and frequent visitors to the beach should be aware of this. Even if there's no proof to the claims, it's still good to exercise caution.

Sharks are always bad news. If great white sharks were seen in their waters, they better stay away specially surfers. It's better to be safe.

This needs to be clarified. They can't go around saying they saw a great white shark. It could cause a stir. I hope they enlighten the people on these sightings.

Maybe they were mistaken? It would be weird to see great whites on colder waters. They frequent certain seas for the warm waters.

It is possible that the great white sharks are exploring other areas. Not many were seen so it's probably a few isolated cases.

I'm sure they're looking into this because people would get alarmed by these sightings. Many people can say it was a great white but it could just be something similar like a porbeagle.

British waters are also warm so it wouldn't be a surprise to see them there.

Conservationist Richard Peirce, author of Sharks In British Seas, says:"There is no reason why great whites can't live in British seas for at least part of the year. The waters are warm enough so the big mystery is why they are not here."

It's probably because their numbers are very depleted and they prefer other regions. I think it's highly unlikely we will see a great white in British waters any time soon.

Sea creatures swim from one ocean to the other. It's one big aquarium so I wouldn't be shocked if great white sharks are spotted again.

A fisherman claims to have seen something like a great white but he wasn't sure. He didn't have any concrete evidence so I don't think this is very reliable.

Pretty sure this caused panic in some people. They'd get paranoid about going to beaches.
