Does this not encourage unemployment?

What motivation will the unemployed people have to work? This is no better than food stamps.

It would help those who are hard working and temporarily laid off. It's something to help them get by until the next job comes. However, I do see a possible way people might exploit this.

The objective is admirable but the means is questionable. I think there are better ways to achieve this besides a hand out.

This is a nice though however it can lead for the unemployed to use the money for something else other than the basic necessities which is why food stamps are a better option.

Nice gesture but this will just be exploited by bad individuals.

I can see all sorts of problems that will come out of this. Since this is a trial project. They have selected individuals to receive this benefit. If I were a citizen and my taxes are being used for this, I'd want to know the criteria used for the selection. I wouldn't want it to go to waste.

I do not believe that the government should provide any sort of hand outs. I believe the government should provide the unemployed with supplementary vocational training instead to widen their skills to have more employment opportunities. The government could also provide financial incentives to business or foreign investors to increase job opportunities.

I think this is a good opportunity for those who are hard working but was dealt with a bad hand. It will keep them from losing their home. However, there must be a better means of selection and control.

I agree that it might be exploited but I am glad that the government of Finland has made an effort to try to help their citizens. Not all government are that compassionate.

This is good for the unemployed. It gives them something to tie them over. I just hope it doesn't get exploited.

This is good because the unemployed have other needs other than food. electricity, clean clothes. This is better than food stamps.

This is great! Hope other countries' government are like this. Long term solution is to create more jobs though.

This is a bold move by Finland. There will be criticisms of course. What idea doesn't right? I just hope that this will have oversight and subject for frequent review by peers and the government.

I agree. It needs an eagle eye and frequent reviews to ensure that it's doing what it's supposed to and not being exploited.
