This is nothing new. There will always be things that will hold us back. If there wasn't then everything would be easy.

Burnout and depression are just some of the key elements that have been mentioned, which other factors do you think are negatively affecting social entrepreneurship?

As an entrepreneur, you’re at a higher risk of burnout than almost any other group. When you’re your own boss, nobody’s telling you how to think. Nobody’s making decisions for you. No one’s even telling you what to work on. Everything is on you.

It’s not like you ever get a break. While others can “switch off” after 5 pm, as an entrepreneur, you’re constantly ON. Plus, you’re constantly focused on one thing and one thing only – building your business. Tunnel vision. All. The. Time.

I had a hard time falling asleep. I couldn’t sleep. At all. There were weeks during which I got a total of 6 hours of sleep. As you can imagine, it impacted my work in a massive way. I needed to make a change.

There are five possible unintended negative consequences of a social enterprise: unforeseen outcomes; tradeoffs between the social and profit missions; governments abdicating their responsibility to provide social services; the demonization or de-legitimization of traditional charities; and the growth of unethical behavior following green consumption.

I agree about social entrepreneur having almost no access to capitals. Most bank won't loan them any money.

It's too bad for them. They have so much on their plate already.

I think this is not just for social entrepreneurs. I think everybody gets depressed or burnt out at one point or the other. This is why it's important to seek mental health.

I agree! Employers should look into giving everybody in the company a mental health check once in awhile. Sure the social entrepreneurs might seem that they are suffering more but They can afford treatment. Most employees can't. Some companies do not include a mental health check up in their benefits.

I agree! I am an employee and I too suffer from both. I surround myself with a great support system and I think that it is important for each and everyone of us to have somebody who will stop and ask us if we are okay.

Burnout is not exclusively affecting social entrepreneurs. It affects almost everybody that's of working age.

I think there's so many factors that affects entrepreneurs in general and one of them is burnout from endless stress. It can be hard especially if you'r doing it alone.

I agree. Burnout is something I've experienced before and I don't want to go through it again.

I think the government is also not helping these people. Governments can make it more difficult for social entrepreneurs to succeed with all it's requirements and red tape.
