The CW is, of course, no stranger to adapting classic properties for a new generation. 90210 — a continuation of Beverly Hills, 90210 — ran for five seasons on the network (2008–2013), while Melrose Place — a continuation of the original Fox drama — ran for just one season (2009–2010).

Dynasty was initially created to take on rival soap opera Dallas, starring Larry Hagman. Dallas was also resurrected for the small screen in 2012, with a number of original cast members returning, but was cancelled after three seasons due to flagging ratings.
