It depends if both parties are really trying their best. Sometimes it ends up being one sided. One partner would do it just to shut the other person up.

It's worth a try. If it can save the relationship then why not? I'd be up for it. It would help improve your communication skills.

Sometimes it just causes more tension. If your flaws are getting pointed out all the time and you're not appreciated, you lose self esteem. It only makes things worse.

My wife and I did this. It helped strengthen our relationship. We communicate better now and we learned more about our relationship.

Talking to someone about your issues isn't something I find comfortable. I'd rather we keep things between me and my partner. Seeing a counselor just seems awkward to me.

It does work. You get to learn strategies on how to appreciate each other more. The counselor would also help you come to a compromise about your issues.

I haven't tried it but I'd be open to it. It seems like a good idea.

I know of people who did this and it mostly worked. One partner may be hesitant but it all worked out in the end.

My parents tried it but it still didn't save their relationship. I don't think they were committed to it.

If both are 100% committed to making the relationship work, then counseling would help. They just need to be open to what will be said.

I personally haven't tried it. It looks a lot of he said, she said to me. You could end up arguing there with the counselor.

I think couples counseling is a tedious process. Hashing out all your problems and blaming each other just doesn't seem effective to me.

It would help to have a counselor point you in the right direction. Sometimes all you see are your complains. A counselor could help with an objective assessment.

This is a good way of fixing the relationship. You get to talk about your issues with each other and someone could give you advice on how to go about it.

I would feel awkward spilling everything to a stranger. I just don't see myself doing it.

It does aim to make the relationship stronger so I guess that's good. I just hope it's not too expensive or people just might forego it.
