At every stage of repayment, Navient chose to shortcut and deceive consumers to save on operating costs.

Among the allegations: that Navient failed to correctly apply borrowers' payments to their accounts; steered struggling borrowers into paying more than they had to; and hurt the credit of disabled borrowers, including injured veterans, by misreporting to the credit-reporting agencies the status of their loans.

So if the lawsuit is won, and Navient has to pay a fine, does any of that money go back to thr people they ripped off or to ...?

So what, if anything can be done, by people who are currently paying back their loans from Navient? Can we get in on this lawsuit or are the reperations going to go to the fed?

Do the borrowers get some sort of relief from this or is this just a slap on the hand for the company? My balance has TRIPPLED from what I originally borrowed. There is no way I can make the minimum monthly payments...

Magically around 8 months ago Navient slashed my monthly payments in half with no explanation. I am not going to question the lower payments but it begs the question of whether or not I was overcharged since 03?

I'm a Navient"customer". However I never really had a choice. My loans have changed hands behind the curtain 2-3 times since college. One day it became Navient.

Horrible company. My loans have doubled thanks to interest and they refuse my applications for IBR every single time with NO explanation. ????

Ah yes... my student loans that went up thousands of dollars between 2009 and 2011 when I finally went on ibr after learning what it was since it didn't exist when I took my loans. My student loans were $37k when I graduated. I now owe 56k and I've paid around $20k at this point. Woot!

My original loan was 16k with Sallie Mae. Now with Navient I paid 18k lump sum 2 years ago which included interst. However, I still owe 9k. Something is wrong!

Their goal is to squeeze as much money out of the borrower as they can, over a very extended period of time. I was sending extra money to pay down my debt faster, and they hated that. So, without me asking for it and without notifying me of the status change, they put my account into forbearance. They tried convincing me it was a good thing, because I wouldn't have to make a payment for a few months. MEANWHILE interest was still accruing on the balance, so I'd owe more over time. Shady, unethical business!!

Navient sucks!!! My husband has most of his loans through them, not by choice. They won't work with getting us income-based payment even though I quit my job to go back to school in this last year which cut our income into less than half of what it was before. They even called some of our cosigners telling them they needed to make a payment when our bill wasn't even due yet!!! And we have never missed a due date. This company is just scum.

Yup. They actually made it harder for me to set up auto pay for the amount I wanted to. Thus having me just pay the minimum and dragging out my loan repayment.

We recently decided to consolidate all of my husbands Navient loans. Firing the process of leaving Navient we were harassed by phone, email and mail. Someone in their organization continued to try and pull funds from our bank account. We had to close the account to prevent it from happening. Once we had the consolation in process all of a sudden there were new options available that were never available before. Navient is just a business looking to push up their bottom line. As students we should be allowed to choose who is going to service our loans after school. Providers with real options based on your situation and then be allowed to review that provider after a few years. Even if we never see a penny from this at least a new group of students won't be subjected to these types of people.

sallie mae has been sticking it to me for a long time now. i consolidated all my student loans, and they refused. the second attempt failed also. all the communication about it since then has also failed. i am now looking down the barrel of potential default thanks to them not sending me the paperwork to file my forebearance/deferrment. all in the name of getting the loan in collections and one less name bitching at them. not gonna look good when i have to call them. not gonna look good at all

Why did they wait until there were millions of victims? Those loans should be immediately and fully forgiven and payments returned.
