The FOX News article says that legalisation has meant more teenagers showing up to school baked. This shouldn't be happening any more than when it was illegal. prohibition creates a black market of criminals who don't mind selling to school children. legalisation means the sale is regulated and 18+. So these young kids are getting it from their older siblings or parents and probably are drinking alcohol too.

As drug war hysteria subsides it becomes increasingly certain that there must be a serious re-examination of the laws prohibiting marijuana. The decriminalization of soft drugs has now emerged as an active political issue in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France and Australia. The policies being considered range from"decriminalization," or repeal of criminal penalties for private use and cultivation of cannabis, to full"legalization," in which cannabis is commercially sold like alcohol, tobacco and other commodities.

Oregon and Alaska voted to set up commercial markets for marijuana, but the voters in Washington, D.C., passed an initiative just to allow home production. I’m not panicking. But I do think it’s worth another look (similar to the one I wrote for Plugged In’s blog last year) at what experts are saying about marijuana use’s costs to society. What happens when children grow up seeing marijuana stores as often as they see a McDonald.

I think it should be federally legalized once and for all.

This is true. I agree it is a far different drug.

Marijuana legalization means more drugged driving. Already, 13 percent of high school seniors said they drove after using marijuana while only 10 percent drove after having several drinks. Why run the risk of increasing marijuana use among young drivers?

There are no studies that say driving on marijuana would be an issue. I see nothing at all wrong with smoking and driving at the same time.
