A great player is a great player no matter where he is from. There have been European players that came to the states and did not do well.

In a World Cup year, should the fact that the leading American talents have been centripetally propelled into MLS's loving arms be a cause for concern? Or, rather, inspire rational appreciation that the tectonic plates of the world's game are changing, transforming definitions of footballing opportunity, success and failure along with them?

I honestly don't think Europe wants the NFL

Great athletes will find a way to succeed no matter what. With the money they pay in Europe I would go there early either way .

I think Jason Lancaster gets the brunt of the answer right but I think there's another factor that will make it so that American football will never succeed outside of the US: evolution.

There will always be super athletes from all countries. All it takes is a shift in popularity and those athletes will start playing soccer. Take someone like Lebron James. He would have been good at anything he tried. If he grew up playing soccer he would be one of the greatest no doubt. Great athletes come from the same pool they just choose different sports.

Today, the AFLC includes about 1,000 players on 16 teams throughout China, the most significant football league in a country that now counts about 5,000 men and women playing some level of tackle football. While it is a small number relative to China's population of 1.35 billion, it has grown mostly in the past five years and is part of a larger movement -- supported in some cases by the NFL, but unknown to most Americans -- to spread what is perceived to be a uniquely American game around the globe.

Here at Oulala.com, we love football, perhaps as much as you do, perhaps even more. But we are filled with sadness that we will never be either professional footballers or club managers. That is life: harsh. Instead, we decided that we would not let that hold us back from proving our expertise and taking part, which is why we have created the most comprehensive fantasy football system there is.

I do not see 6 foot 8 300 pound super football athletes playing soccer in any country.

There are a select few that could hold their own but not many from what I have seen. The sport is not promoted enough over here for kids to really get into the sport at an early age.

However, in Europe, sport fans are much more likely to favour the traditional form of football – or soccer, as Americans call it. A thriving and rabidly obsessive number of such fans are found throughout Europe, with fiercely competitive leagues and Europe-wide competitions captivating spectators over most of the year.

I think depending on where you are born you have access to better talent which makes you better. If you are playing soccer in europe at a young age the talent is much better which should make you better than most.
