this is definitely possible. The indigenous Australian are proven to be the oldest race in existence. They would have covered a huge area as they were mostly nomadic. They are still unable to determine how they got to Australia. The world would have been a lot different.

In the early 1900s it was commonly believed that the Indigenous population of Australia was going to become extinct. Looks like they did not know how strong these people would grow to be.
