Brazil’s Amazon is home to more uncontacted tribes than anywhere in the world. There are thought to be at least 100 isolated groups in this rainforest, according to the government’s Indian affairs department FUNAI.

MANAUS, BRAZIL (Neuters) Researchers from Brazil’s Indian Protection Agency have identified a new tribe of uncontacted indigenous people in the dense rainforest of the western Amazon. Located on a reservation near the border with Peru, it is estimated that there may be as many as 200 individuals living in primitive grass huts, growing crops and cursing their lack of cellular and broadband connections.

Leave them be! They are much happier without the influences of modern times. I have been to some very basic villages and I find that life is much happier without the worries of money and technology!

Brazilian officials reported recently that a tribe of people living in the Peruvian Amazon, who previously had no contact with the outside world, have just contacted a settled tribe near the Brazil-Peru border while attempting to flee illegal loggers. The group was first discovered in 2011 from aerial photographs taken by the Brazilian government.

Absolutely - although, apparently the government of Brazil did not know of the existence of this particular group, so in a sense, the government did 'discover' them - albeit a discovery for themselves.
